The Happy Cook's background

"Life is too short to stick at something that makes you unhappy. Time therefore to follow a dream and try to earn a living cooking decent honest food, using quality local ingredients and offering customers great value."

THE HAPPY COOK

Following a mixed career of jobs in administration, marketing and sales, I became a Teacher in 2000. Yes, it had its rewards; a salary, job satisfaction, great holidays, ups and downs, variety, etc., but didn't fulfil my passion.

After well over 10 years of working with teenagers, enough was enough! I became frustrated with the beaurocracy that restricted creativity. (Nothing to do with teaching 300+ school kids every year - honest!?)

In my experience, the best way to keep costs down is to buy ingredients locally and therefore source ingredients from Garstang and surrounding areas wherever possible.

My food is prepared at home and freshly cooked at the venue.

This allows me to be competitive as I keep overheads down to a minimum.

Therefore, I am able to offer real value and quality and a much healthier, tastier option than high street fast food outlets, ready meals, etc.

I do not compromise on quality!
